The massive 1004’ long M/V Edwin H. Gott has arrived at the CN Ore Docks in Two Harbors, MN on Lake Superior’s north shore to load around 65,000 tons of iron ore pellets. Generally, it takes about 8 hrs. to load the Gott and 8hrs. to unload; unless of couse the vessel unloads into a shore side hopper, then the unload takes about 12 hrs. The Great Lakes Fleet vessel is returning from a run to Gary, IN on Lake Michigan where it carried about 66,000 tons of pellets and will now carry this latest cargo to Conneaut, OH on Lake Erie. The Gott will make 45-50 of these runs during the mid March – mid January shipping season.
