"Straits of Mackinac" (9x13 in.) $45.00, Unframed Original Available (24.5x18.5 in.), $3000.00
It is Labor Day 2007 and thousands of participants are involved in the Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk. Begun back in 1958, the gathering generates on the average of 50,000-60,000 persons each Labor Day that partake in the 5 mile walk. Stealing the show, however, is the 858 M/V Roger Blough of the Great Lakes Fleet, just passing under the Bridge. The Blough is upbound for Two Harbors, MN where it will load iron ore pellets at the CN/Missabe Dock. Just returning from U.S. Steels Gary Works in Gary, IN where the Blough unloaded iron ore pellets from the CN/Missabe Dock in Duluth, MN, one of the small craft boaters near the Bridge has given the self unloading vessel the Masters Salute of 1 long, 2 shorts from its horn. In return, the Blough has answered back with 3 thunderous whistle blasts of the same.
