In the foreground is the enormous rudder, propeller, stern and stern anchor chain of the retired ore carrier S/S William A. Irvin of the U.S. Steel Great Lakes Fleet. Across the Minnesota Slip of the Duluth Harbor in Duluth, MN is another retiree, the tug Lake Superior of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Both were tremendous workhorses in their day but now are museum pieces.
