Blue Water Bridge

Blue Water Bridge
(24.5 in.x 18.5 in.), 1500.00

The deep, turquoise blue water of Lake Huron spills into the equally deep, turquoise blue waters of the St. Clair River at the very famous Blue Water Bridge. Connecting Port Huron, MI to Sarnia, ON the bridge spans the international border between Canada and the United States which runs down the middle if the river. After passing under the bridge and as the river makes a sharp turn to the east just below the bridge, American Steamship Company’s 1000-foot American Century is beginning its hard turn to port as it heads downbound with a split load of low sulfur western coal loaded at Superior Midwest Energy Terminal in Superior, WI. Half of the load of well over 70,000 tons will go to St. Clair, MI on Lake St. Clair while the other half will go to Monroe, MI on Lake Erie, both electric generating plants of Detroit Edison. The load must be split because the route to Monroe on Lake Erie is too shallow to take a full load.
