US Weather Bureau Reports for sailing on Lake Superior November 9-10, 1975 sent almost all vessels to seek refuge. Almost all, that is, except for the S/S Edmund Fitzgerald and the S/S Arthur M. Anderson. The two ore carriers decided to push across the lake together, hoping that one another's company would lead to a safe crossing.
